Who we are
We're the people who set up the family printer, un-shrink the fonts, and get asked at every gathering whether so-and-so should "get a website or just do the Facebook thing." We've answered that question enough times to notice a pattern: nobody actually wants a website builder. They want to be online — visible, findable, done — with as little new learning as possible. So this site talks to you the way we'd talk across a kitchen table. Short sentences. Plain words. No assuming you know what a domain is. If a grandparent can't use this site comfortably, we've failed our own brief.
Why this site exists
Because most builder rankings are written by people who make websites for a living, for people who make websites for a living. They compare design flexibility and developer features when the reader just wants to know: how many questions do I answer before this thing is live? We rank builders by exactly that — time to launch, judged from each builder's documented setup flow and from independent 2026 user tests. We don't claim hands-on timed tests, because we didn't run any, and we think saying so plainly matters more than sounding scientific. And when the honest answer is a range — because sources disagree on a price — we print the range.
How we stay honest
Three habits. We double-check every price against published plans and flag renewal jumps, because the sticker price and the year-two price are often different animals. We name each builder's limits before you sign up, not after. And we disclose how we're paid: some links are affiliate links that earn us a commission at no cost to you, some of our top-ranked picks pay us nothing at all, and the rankings can't tell the difference.
